James Dalton is passionate about criminal law and achieving justice for his clients

James graduated university with bachelors degrees in business and law in 2019 after completing his honours dissertation on ‘Ethics and Regulation of Undercover Police Practices in New Zealand’. James specialised in criminal law, criminal procedure, and counter-terrorism measures.
He was then admitted to the bar and began practising as a defence lawyer out of the North Shore District Court.
From there, James joined MC in 2022 and was a part of the Crown Specialist Team for several years. During this time, he was promoted to Senior Solicitor and conducted numerous jury trials on a variety of cases – from serious assaults to sexual violence to kidnapping. These types of cases meant that he regularly appeared in both the Auckland District Court and Auckland High Court.
Now, James is the Barrister Sole and Principal Lawyer of Dalton Legal, representing clients on a range of matters from white collar fraud to serious violence. He’s ready to use his wealth of experience as your courtroom advocate.
